KNPLCB (About Us)
Our Mission
The mission of Keep North Platte & Lincoln County Beautiful (KNPLCB) is to educate and interact with the community about environmental issues; and to coordinate beautification, litter cleanup and waste minimization resources for the betterment and benefit of our community.
Background
The organization is a local, state and national award winning affiliate of Keep America Beautiful. Established in 1978, the main goal is to eradicate litter and to beautify the community through partnerships with businesses, organizations and individual volunteers. Response to Need. Litter control and beautification is ongoing. Awareness and an ethic of environmental responsibility must be cultivated.
GOALS:
The Mayor and City Council and the Lincoln County Commissioners instruct KNPLCB to address the following needs:
- Involves the public in the business of maintaining a clean environment and promotes public pride in the community.
- Incorporates 'care of the earth' activities in school curriculums.
- Maintains and expands organization, government and business partnerships to a litter-free and beautiful landscape.
Program Overview:
KNPLCB basic service is to 35,000 citizens in North Platte & Lincoln County, but programs are developed with groups north to Valentine and south to McCook.
15, 126 citizens volunteered at some event in 1999 - 2000. 673,732 pieces of information were distributed, including 8,500 litterbags from June '99 to June 2000.

- TGIF Newsletters - Teacher's Great Informational Bulletin quarterly to teachers encouraging recycling and litter control
- Beautiful News - KNPLCB's quarterly newsletters distributed through businesses and organizations.
