KNPLCB Volunteers Are Changing Their
Community for the Better!
Here is some information from KNPLCB’s
annual report to Keep America Beautiful:

KNPLCB Adopt-A-Spot volunteers planted and maintained 25 flowerbeds in our community parks & public spaces. They kept these areas litter-free and absolutely beautiful! Thank you for your time, creativity, and energy!

Rural Road volunteers cleared litter from 206.5 miles of county roadways this spring! 316 adult and youth volunteers picked up 1559 bags of litter. They also recycled 1393 lbs of aluminum and plastic...an incredible job for an incredible group. These groups have already begun cleaning the roads for the fall season. The value to the county in volunteer time was $10, 534.32.

During our Great North Platte & Lincoln County clean-up,

the Downtown Business Association held its 6th annual clean-up event & the Eastside Association and Original Town Association followed up with their own clean-up events.
105 volunteer events were held in North Platte & Lincoln County
3199 people volunteered 12,149 hours to the cause
21,520 lbs of litter & debris were collected
294 acres of parks were cleaned
672 miles of streets, roads, and highways were cleaned
19,350 lbs of aluminum were recycled
Over 8800 people attended our educational programs & events

Our spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event was also a success thanks to a consistent volunteer effort. It was my first ‘solo’ run at the event, but my volunteers & the city staff support made the event run smoothly. It rained for the first time in 13 events but our volunteers never wavered in handing out information, surveys, and smiles to participants. Volunteers poured 1057 gallons of used paint that day. They helped pass out over 189 surveys and collected 177 computer monitors. The next collection event will be held October 9th from 9am-1pm and I can only hope that these incredible volunteers will return….and that it doesn’t rain!
